EAA Chapter 1327
Feb. 4, 2010
UNV
Ron Bowman Presiding
Treasurer
Dave Dix reported a balance of $2,169.41 and noted our liability insurance
through EAA HQ is $277.00 per year.
We’ll again need to complete an IRS filing as a 501C3 organization. He also reminded us that chapter dues will be
waived the following year in which you fly at least 10 Young Eagles.
Rick and Deb
Jones of Philipsburg’s CAP Squadron told us of their joint venture with the
Philipsburg YMCA (they’ll supply lunch) to conduct a Wings and Things Day Camp
for ages 7-9 on July 12 - 16 for perhaps $10 -$20 per person. It will include topics such as Basic Flight
facts, Search and Rescue Techniques, and demos of rockets and RC model
aircraft. Clearfield EAA will assist. They hope for one or two groups of up to 9
people each. CAP Major Long will provide
an on-site static display. They hope we
can help with this project, and our reaction was very favorable.
John Flohr
recommended a website as an excellent place for free aviation safety articles
and newsletters. It is
www.genebenson.com.
Our EAA
“Library” (video, tapes, manuals, literature, etc.) could use an airport
home. Perhaps we could share some space
with the CAP in the hangar lounge whenever it opens.?
Malcolm
Morrison showed his considerable effort to upgrade our Hangar website. He has added links to other area aviation
sites, listed area instructors, and our calendar. We may add membership criteria, photos of our
member’s planes, and perhaps a classified ad option.
Members were
reminded that the deadline approaches to replace our paper pilot license.
The Red Bull
air races will be held in New York City over the Hudson 6/19/10.
