2011 Aviation Awareness Day
It’s in the books and it was a success in spite of the
weather. Lower ceilings than expected
prevented the Young Eagle flights and kept several aircraft away that were
coming for the display. Still there were
about 20 airplanes on display, and 35 kids signed up for Young Eagle
flights. These kids will be contacted in
the near future to schedule a flight. Ray
Masters and Lloyd Huck did a tremendous job at the Young Eagles table. The public came out in good numbers to check
out the airplanes and many got a tour of the new control tower that is due to
start operating on Thursday, Sept 1. It
sounds like the flight schools had a good day with potential new students, and
there was a lot of interest, and questions answered by chapter members about
airplanes, flying, and the EAA. The CAP
handled parking and safety along with the University Park
staff who even brought out the fire truck.
Below is a list of those that
participated in the event, although I’m sure that I have overlooked some. You guys make this possible. Thank you so much.
